A POET ON THE FRONTLINE:

THE REPORTAGE OF RYSZARD KAPUSCINSKI

A POET ON THE FRONTLINE will introduce audiences to Ryszard Kapuscinski, the famous daredevil war correspondent and one of the world’s most important contemporary literary figures.  Known as “Indiana Jones with a notepad,” he is a legend among his peers who has been looking for the truths of human experience in the most dangerous places.  Filmmaker Gabrielle Pfeiffer traveled with Kapuscinski in four countries, capturing his true character, his passion, his humor and his demons.  Her film interweaves Kapuscinski’s childhood as a refugee in Poland during WWII, with his later experiences on the battlefields of Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Scotland Herald: “Television Pick-of-the-Week” selection for the BBC broadcast

Author John Berger writes about this film:  “The film about Richard K. is wonderful and wonderfully told, edited, saying yes between every cut, being proud of this man and the boy in him, and the words which won’t go quiet.  Thank you and everybody for this film which is like the wallet of a traveler – without money but with notes from everybody.”

“This film is a must-see for fans of his books, but also for anyone looking for a bit of  inspiration.”

                                                                            -  Montreal Mirror

“...a terrific ... film...  A good reason to see this film is as a primer to Kapuscinski’s writing.  The best reason is to see what you can take away from it...  Great writer.  Fascinating man. Powerful film.”

                                                                            -  Jesse Kornbluth
